The 'formulation' process produces more than a summary of the main issues of concern. It comprises the major elements of a person’s history, current problems, and signs and symptoms synthesised into a set of ideas.
The OCF has five elements:
The Cultural Formulation Interview (CFI) is the most recent development associated with the DSM. It attempts to strike a balance between depth, context and concision in clinical assessment and has greater feasibility and utility than the OCF.
